THE ARTIST

The art of Rebie Ramoso inspires empathy.  This is not by chance but by design.  As a visual and conceptual artist, Ramoso has always strived to elicit a visceral response from her audience.

Her works take us beyond the message and into the moment.  What they offer is not a critique or an analysis, but an experience.

Ramoso confronts social issues, like identity and poverty, from a psychological perspective.  With a formal training in Painting and Psychology, she is not afraid to venture deep into the psycho-emotional realm of human experience.

Ramoso is a master in creating inner worlds.  Her landscapes are alive with non-verbals.  Her still life abound with personal effects.  Her works are adept at inhabiting the innermost corners of a person’s life.

Ramoso vows to do more through digital media.  Her digital paintings, she says, are an intimate reflection of ourselves, particularly those sides of ours too painful to look at.  Her works have been featured in solo and group exhibits in the Philippines, United States, Belgium, and Italy.

One of Ramoso's artworks, The Long Forgetting, received the Special Merit award at the 5th Annual All Women Art Exhibition, organized by Light Space and Time Gallery, in Florida, USA in 2015.

In 2017, Rebie’s digital paintings were featured alongside works of international contemporary artists at EGOS XIII Edition:  From Picasso to the International Artists, at Oud-Sint Jan Museum, Brugge, Belgium.

She continues to exhibit her works overseas, and  has since then, participated in five more group exhibits in Brugge, Belgium, Florence, Italy, and Rome, Italy.

On April 2018, Rebie’s digital painting, How I Forget You, was featured at ArtExpo New York, one of the largest international art expos, through Coronari 111 Gallery, Rome, Italy.

She is set to have her first international solo exhibition in Italy, in May 2019, at Arte Borgo Gallery, Rome.

Ramoso studied Painting at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, and Psychology at the Ateneo de Manila University, where she graduated cum laude.  She has taught Drawing, Design, Language, Theater and Dance at Miriam College, where she graduated valedictorian in high school.

Ramoso is founding partner and chief product designer of Quarkus, a product design studio creating innovative solutions through design thinking.  She is a member of two art advocacy groups, Kababaihan sa Sining at Bagong Sibol na Kamalayan (Kasibulan) and Art Ventures and Advocacy Network (ARTVAN).
