I may be a few days late, I know, but I'd like to believe this is not about Manny Pacquiao and his statement; rather, it is about something that we have all been accustomed to doing, whether with no apparent intention or not, whether as a subject of a joke or not; and that is judgment.
We are all entitled to free speech. We are all entitled to defend our ideologies. Yet, the events of the past days have caused not clarity, justice, nor openness, but hatred. Whatever happened to kindness and respect?
I am posting this as my stand, and as a plea that we become more aware of how words could hurt the subjects of our judgment. And this is not just about LGBTs, but about all those who have become recipients of such hurtful words (again, whether intentional or unintentional).
Let us do away with labels. Let us express our opinions with utmost respect. Let us not forget about kindness. We are all human, after all.
(And for those who might ask, yes... the labels on my face have been used to describe me, but all are forgiven. Forgiven, but not forgotten).
